Fourteen girls from Mekhala House travelled to Phnom Penh on the 12th of March to participate in the inaugural Barclays Capital ISF U16 Football Tournament. The Mekhala House Kangaroos competed with 18 other teams from across Cambodia in the event organised by the Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF).
In Jan 2010, The NSW Southern Highlands iconic fabric and homewares shop, “My Place” held an event to raise money for Mekhala House. This event was specifically targeted at raising money to renovate the bathrooms at Mekhala House which are in a desperate state of disrepair.
On the 10th of August 2010, Anthony Byrnes and Airlie Shuttleworth visited FDCC from Australia. Anthony was a Guest Speaker for Mekhala House, he has been a Helicopter Pilot for 25 years and talked to the children about the importance of following your dreams.
Zac Godbolt is a 14 year old Magician who came to visit Mekhala House in Cambodia recently and provided the children with a show beyond their imagination. Zac has been practicing magic for 8 years and has been performing professionally in Australia for the past couple of years.
To help raise funds for Mekhala House operating costs, FDCC will hold a fundraising dinner on the Thursday, 24th June 2010 (7.00pm).
We are selling bags and scarves purchased in Cambodia with proceeds from all items going to support the running of Mekhala House.
Alba Ruiz Leon and the Alba Surf Club supports FDCC through various fundraising activities organised through the club and its members.
